Meg Remy will release her new album as U.S. Girls, Half Free, on September 25 and she’s just shared the video for new single “Window Shades.” The song is maybe the most striking on the LP (which, loaded with great songs, is one of 2015’s best) and a stunner of a breakup anthem with Remy vowing, “I won’t think about you every time I hear that tune.” You don’t even need to know the lyrics to get what’s going on, heartbreak runs electric through her powerhouse vocal performance. With equally sweeping production, built around a sample of Gloria Ann Taylor’s disco cut “Love is a Hurting Thing,” it comes off kind off like The Crystals being produced by Massive Attack. The video, which drops her into some 1930s musicals, is pretty great too. Watch it below.
